doTERRA Peppermint Oil Review and Uses
DoTERRA’s peppermint oil is a classic essential oil that has a variety of purposes. The oil is pure and potent, containing a higher amount of the active ingredient, menthol, than other brands. You may recognize the scent and flavor from candies, drinks, and toothpaste.
Using peppermint oil not only tastes great, but it also provides a cooling effect that offers the feeling of rejuvenation and focus. Try adding the oil to water as a way to cool down on a hot day. The menthol scent can help alleviate bad breath and digestive issues.
This versatile oil has a wide variety of uses beyond flavoring toothpastes and candy canes. You can use the oil to aid in concentration, digestive issues, and respiratory health, but more specifically, it can help in relaxation, headache and pain relief, bad breath relief, and appetite control. You can even use peppermint oil for pest control, (it deters rodents specifically), and to neutralize paint fumes! If you’re trying to lose weight or eat less, peppermint can help control your appetite.
You can use the oil as is or you can dilute it with a neutral oil, such as fractionated coconut oil, or mix it with another doTERRA oil, like eucalyptus. You can add it to food and drinks, add it to diffusers (learn more here), or inhale directly, and also apply it to wounds, bruises, and other painful areas.
Peppermint also has the power to enhance other essential oils and help them work more effectively. Combining essential oils with peppermint will help those other oils absorb more readily into the skin, thus working more efficiently than if used alone.
While you may notice that doTERRA’s oil may cost more than the competitors, due to its purity and concentration, you’re getting a more active and prolonged effect than with other brands.
